How to Use SF 902 CUI Computer and Digital Media Labels
SF 902 CUI Computer and Digital Media Labels are used to identify computers, equipment, and digital media that contain, store, process, display, or provide access to Controlled Unclassified Information.
Apply SF 902 labels to devices and media such as laptops, desktop computers, monitors, external hard drives, printers, scanners, servers, network equipment, CDs, storage devices, filing cabinets, and other physical items used to handle or store CUI. The goal is to create a clear, visible reminder that the marked item is associated with CUI and should be handled according to your organization’s CUI procedures.
For best results, place each label in a consistent, easy-to-see location. On laptops, place the label where it is visible during use or transport. On monitors and desktops, place it near the front, side, or another visible surface. On external hard drives, CDs, or removable media, place the label directly on the item or its protective case when space is limited.
SF 902 labels are especially useful for defense contractors, manufacturers, engineering teams, IT departments, program offices, and facilities preparing for CMMC or internal CUI handling reviews.
These labels should be used as part of a complete CUI marking system. Pair them with SF 901 CUI Cover Sheets, CUI Restricted Area Signs, CUI Authorized Only Floor Tape, CUI Visitor Badges, CUI Authorized Destruction Container Signs, and CMMC asset labels to help create a consistent facility-wide CUI handling process.
